Around 3000 People Identified Infected With HIV AIDS

 ඒඩ්ස් ආසාදිතයින් 3000ක් රටපුරා

එච්. අයි. වී. හෙවත් ඒඩ්ස් ආසාදිතයින් 3000ක් පමණ දෙනා රට පුරා විසිර ඇති බවට ඇස්තමේන්තු කර ඇති බවත් ඒ අතරින් ඍජුවම රෝගය ආසාදනය වී ඇති බවට හඳුනාගෙන ඇත්තේ පුද්ගලයින් 1350දෙනෙකු පමණ බව ලිංගාශ්‍රිත හා ඒඩ්ස් රෝග මර්දන ඒකකයේ අධ්‍යක්‍ෂ වෛද්‍ය නිමල් එදිරිසිංහ මහතා ලංකාපුවත් සේවයට පැවසීය.

මෙලෙස හඳුනාගෙන ඇති ඒඩ්ස් රෝගීන්ගෙන් සියයට 60ක පමණ ප්‍රතිශතයක් ජීවත් වන්නේ බස්නාහිර පළාතේය.

කෙසේ නමුත් හඳුනාගෙන ඇති ඒඩ්ස් ආසාදිතයින්ට, රෝගය වැළදී ඇත්තේ බොහෝ විට විදෙස් රටවලදී වන බවට ද වෛද්‍ය නිමල් එදිරිසිංහ සඳහන් කරනු ලැබීය.

Dr. Nimal Edirisinghe Director of the AIDS prevention unit of the Health Ministry said according to a survey There are around 200,000 prostitute seekers and around 40,000 prostitutes in the country.

He said that these figures are something that has to be seriously taken into account considering the fact that Sri Lanka is a small country, in spite of spreading of HIV/ AIDS in Sri Lanka being considered to be minimal.

He called those who suspect  their vulnerability to the deadly disease to get their blood tested as there are arrangements to get it done confidentially.

There are around 3000 people identified as those infected with HIV and the number of people yet to be identified must be larger than that.
