මාලඹේ පෞද්ගලික් වෛද්‍ය විද්‍යාලයට මෙරට වෛද්‍ය උපාධි පිරිනැමීම සඳහා විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ප්‍රතිපාදන කොමිෂම අවසර ලබාදී තිබේ.
උසස් අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍ය එස්.බී. දිසානායක මහතාගේ මැදිහත්වීම මත පත්කළ කමිටුවක් මගින් ප්‍රතිපාදන කොමිෂම අදාළ නිර්දේශය ලබාගෙන තිබේ.
මෙම පෞද්ගලික වෛද්‍ය විද්‍යාලයෙන් උපාධිය ලබාගැනීම සඳහා වැය කළ යුතු මුදල රුපියල් ලක්‍ෂ හැටපහක්‌ පමණ වේ. කෙසේ වෙතත්, මේ සඳහා මෙතෙක්‌ ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෛද්‍ය සභාවේ අනුමැතිය ද ලැබී නැත. එනිසා එහි අධ්‍යාපනය ලබන සිසු සිසුවියන්ට රජයේ රෝහල්වල සායනික පුහුණුව ලැබීමට ද නොහැකි වී තිබේ.
මෙම වෛද්‍ය විද්‍යාලයට දේශීය වෛද්‍ය උපාධි පිරිනැමීමේ අවසරය ලබාදීමේ ගැසට්‌ නිවේදනය කඩිනමින් නිකුත් කිරීමට කටයුතු කෙරෙමින් පවතින බව උසස් අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යාංශ ලේකම් ආචාර්ය සුනිල් ජයන්ත නවරත්න මහතා පවසයි. එම අවසරය ලබාදීමට ප්‍රතිපාදන කොමිෂන් සභාවේ අනුමැතිය ලැබී ඇති බවද සඳහන් කරන ලේකම්වරයා එහි දැනට අධ්‍යාපනය ලබන සිසු සිසුවියන්ට සායනික පුහුණුව ලබාදීම සඳහා පෞද්ගලික රෝහල් සොයාගෙන ඇතැයි දප්‍රකාශ කරයි.
මෙම වෛද්‍ය විද්‍යාලයේ මේ වන විට සිසු සිසුවියෝ දෙසියදෙනකුට වැඩි පිරිසක්‌ අධ්‍යාපනය ලබති.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given permission to the Malabe Private Medical College to award medical degrees. The UGC has obtained the relevant recommendations from a committee appointed with the mediation by the Minister of Higher Education S.B. Dissanayake.
The cost of a degree from this private medical college is Rs.6.5 million. However, the approval of Sri Lanka Medical Council has not been obtained yet to award degrees by this medical college. As a result the students who are following courses have not been able to get clinical training in government hospitals.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Sunil Jayanthe Nawaratne says urgent measures have been taken to issue the gazette notification regarding the award of medical degrees by the medical college. He said already UGC approval has been obtained and private hospitals have been elected for the students to have the necessary clinical training.
Already, more than 200 students are reading for medical degrees at the Malabe Medical College.
